Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students need to build their skills with tools that will be driving economic forces in the future.
A large majority of my students come from homes where there is not access to a computer or the Internet. This lack of experience and access to technology will be detrimental to their future success as they move forward.
Many of my students come from low income homes where both parents work in agriculture. Most students have not had regular access to computers but are eager to build their 21st century skills. Over seventy percent of students in the school receive free or reduced-priced lunch and there is an equally large number of English Language learners.
My Project
This project consists of researching the purposes of drones, laws for drone use, the construction of drones, and the future of the technology. The drones will be used for filming school events as well as for the yearbook and other purposes that the students decide upon. This project is a fantastic opportunity for students of different backgrounds, skill levels and affinities to get together to learn applications that they can use in the expanding market for drones. Students will explore the agricultural uses of drones and develop business plans to monetize the use of drones in their home community. It also completely encapsulates the spirit of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art and Mathematics).
This project will allow my students to develop skills that will be useful in the ever-changing job market.
This project will also allow students to experience non-traditional career choices and allow them to contemplate their futures. Through this project my students will also learn the value of entrepreneurship which will benefit them in the future as they learn to thing about more than just their families' experience. Students will learn the value of innovation and the success it can lead to.
