Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This year I am dreaming BIG for my students! For the past few years I have used my own tablet in my classroom but my students deserve more than one tablet in the classroom. I want them to experience the best in technology in order to prepare them for the future. Besides, learning should be fun.

I teach a 1st grade ESL class where over 90% of my students are economically challenged.

First grade is a magical and important school year. This is the year most kids actually learn how to read. Each day is an opportunity to help them take a leap in their learning. My 1st graders will absolutely LOVE these tablets.

My Project

I am requesting six Apple iPad mini tablets, six Fintie Apple iPad screen protectors, six HDE Kids Light Weight Shock Proof Handle Cases, two Aleratec Universal 5 Tablet Charging Organizer Rack Desktop Stand Holders and six Califone Listening Stereo Headphones. The six tablets and headphones will be set up as a learning center in math and reading. The tablets will allow for students to independently work on specific concepts where they need improvement. Eventually I want a tablet for each of my students, but in the meantime I will use the six tablets in a center. The desktop charging stands and USB chargers will provide an organized area for charging and storage. How centers work: Basically while I work with a small group of students the other students are engaged at different centers (reading, writing, listening, etc.) and so the tablets will be set up as a center for students to go to as part of the center rotation.

A donation to this project will totally enrich my students' day at school.

I love to make learning fun for my students, and this will take my center time to a new level. I can imagine all the great skills and concepts my students will master with the help of their new tablets.
