My Students

Were you that student sitting in class frustrated because you were unable to read the books that your classmates were reading? Do you know what it feels like to know that you can't read what your peers are reading but you want to read it? Audio books can change the life of these children!

I am a first year, Special Needs teacher.

As a first year teacher, I do not have all of the resources that other teacher can provide to their students. I have many ideas that I would like to do but can't due to the lack of resources. Many of my students are reading one to two years below grade level. I see many of my students "pretending" to read the books that their classmates are reading. I am asking, for a donation, to provide my students with the opportunity to be able to read these books by purchasing sets of audio books for my classroom.

My Project

Do you remember those young children running away from home and living in an old Boxcar? Do you remember how you felt when you thought Shiloh was in danger of being killed? These feelings from classic books never leave your mind for your whole life. This is what reading is about... creating an everlasting image and idea to take with you as you live your day to day life. Through this project, I am hoping to provide my students with the ability to read these text with the support of books on CD. The students will be able to follow along with the actual book (increasing their vocabulary), listen to a fluent reader (increasing their fluency skills), and even comprehend what they are reading because they won't be making the errors. They will also be able to have discussions with their grade level peers about the book that they once couldn't read! The confidence that they will gain because of audio books can be affected by your donation!

A simple donation of $10, $20, or whatever you can afford, can enable a student with Special Needs to be able to relate with their grade level peers.

They will be able to succeed in the general education classroom and feel more confident in themselves!
