My Students

Numbers are all over the place but where they belong - this is how my students do their computations without the proper tools.

My students have mild to moderate disabilities and need various things to aid in their learning.

Most of them receive free and reduced school lunches in a high-poverty school. They are driven to learn but we lack supplies and tools to help them reach mastery of skills being taught.

My Project

My students require graphing paper to reinforce their understanding of place value concepts, practice their skills on the four fundamental operations by making sure that the numbers are lined up properly, hone their graphing skills, and a whole lot more. They each need a calculator to help in solving problems when the priority is focused on the process of finding the answer and not just their Math facts.

Because they learn differently, in varying degrees and pace, they need to be able to self-check using a calculator as well.

As they progress in their education, "calculator skills" would be an integral part of their Math class, so we need to start learning them as early as possible.
