What kind of learner are you? Not everyone learns in the same way. I believe children develop differently as well. Some of my kids are ready to write, cut, color, and paint because their fine motor skills are well developed. Others still struggle and I believe they can develop it with these toys.
Welcome to Pre-K!
Come on in! We ask that you be respectful to those around you as well as the materials you play with. Language isn't an issue here, we're confident you'll pick it up quickly. We learn through play and exploration so you're required to bring your curiosity and imagination. Have fun!
Our kids are young, ambitious, and curious but there's darkness lurking about that's much too serious. Pre-k is a time to explore and play, to imagine and create until the end of the day.
But the trouble that's looming seems to be blooming. Academic rigor! Academic rigor! They're telling us to grow up much much quicker. They want to prepare us to be college ready, we want to go to college, but at a pace that's steady.
Our parents can't help us of the troubles that's lurking, it's not their fault! They're too busy working!
It's up to you to help us keep our childhood we're about to lose, you wonderful people, the people of DonorsChoose!
My Project
The table toys I've requested will allow the students who have weak fine motor skills to practice developing them. Some of my kids have the ability to cut paper, write letters, and color within the lines. The others do not possess that ability yet. The play metal manipulatives and the tecno tools will allow them to strengthen their motor skills in a different way.
Writing, cutting, and coloring can be stressful for a child if they notice that their peers are way ahead of them. These toys will allow them to practice and develop fine motor skills. The play metal will also be a new tool for creating and constructing. They will learn a new method of building that will allow them to grow in a new exciting way.
Teachers are taught to differentiate instruction.
For my young pre-kindergarteners, they are all on different levels of early childhood development. Some are ready to read and write, while others are still developing their fine motor skills. These toys will allow them to strengthen their motor skills in an engaging way. By the end of pre-k, I know they'll be ready for what's in store for them in kindergarten, along with the rest of their peers.
