In a time where standards are high and funds are low, my students are expected to reach high standards with little or no materials. I taught 5th grade math for the first time last year. We had one set of math materials shared among three teachers.
The students are eager to learn and learn better with hands-on activities.
We live in a small town in North Carolina where some students don't get to experience the world outside of their home or school. Many of our students receive free or reduced price lunch.
My Project
With the manipulatives, my students will gain a better understanding of the math concepts and skills they are required to learn. The white boards and dry erase markers will provide students with a place to practice their skills and receive immediate feedback. The games will provide my students with extra practice while having fun.
