Creating Lifelong Readers

My students need these literacy centers to help them improve on a variety of literacy skills in a more hands-on way.

My Students

How do you learn best? My first grade students love to learn in a hands-on manner. When I saw these centers I knew they would be put to good use in our classroom!

I have an awesome group of 22 first grade students who are eager to learn.

They are hard workers who have already come a long way this school year. I am so proud of them. They help to make our small, rural school a special place to work and learn together.

My Project

My students will benefit from these centers because they will correlate with the reading curriculum that is already in place. It will enhance it by giving my students alternative ways to practice phonemic awareness and phonics skills. These are the foundation skills necessary for students to become great readers!

Teaching my students how to read is one of the reasons why I love teaching first grade so much.

Students make great gains throughout the year. It is an honor watching them grow into readers. It is my job to enhance this skill that they will take with them and use for the rest of their lives. These centers will help me create more interest and excitement towards reading. I want my students to become readers for life!
