My students need journals, a variety of craft materials, a dot rug & copies of the book "The Dot" because we're celebrating International Dot Day in the fall!
In Kindergarten, we are very busy creating and designing our ideas and things we are curious with a variety of materials. Each year, we celebrate International Dot Day because it is when we can share how we are learning and also share what we are curious about.
I have the honor of working with 18 curious and enthusiastic young children who care very much about each other and the world.
They connect using social media and engage in project based learning opportunities that engage their families to help support the needs of their local community. They are passionate about learning and use a variety of digital tools to share their voice.
Our school is amazing! We believe in being safe, kind and responsible to everyone. We celebrate what we are exploring and are curious about through our Kidblogs, class blog, Skype and Twitter. We love books and making connections with each other. Our classroom is a fun and safe place to be.
My Project
My students will be celebrating creativity and innovation all year long. To get us started on this amazing adventure, we begin by reading Peter Reynolds famous book,"The Dot." This story reminds us of how we can all share our voice and our ideas through taking a risk and having courage. In Kindergarten, we want to be able to be creative daily through what we create with our hands, minds, and hearts. My students will be able to enjoy reading The Dot over and over as well as use all the materials needed to create their own interpretation of their dot, their mark, their idea. The soft journals will give my students an opportunity to create their own story about their journey to discovering their dot, their voice.
This project will support my students because we are beginning our year together as a collaborative community.
In developing our community, we begin to offer invitations to learn alongside each other & the world. We do this by sharing our voice, what we're curious about & our ideas. This project will give all of my students, their families & others an opportunity to share in our work, our ideas & to connect. Just by creating our dots we hope to build a caring & fun learning environment.
