My Students

If you have ever lived in the inner city, you know the difficulty students face who do not have money or supplies. My school is one of the poorest in the entire school district. Our students have to do without and often lack money for basic supplies.

Our students are from California.

We average 40-45 students per class. I have an average of 38-39 in my classes. Most schools think 28 in a class is too many. We are an SAS school. We get no title one funds. However, many of my students have parents who have no work, no money and are struggling to put food on the table on a regular basis. They need basic supplies as the school district last year left the school of over 1800 with a school budget of only $65,000; this includes money for toilet paper and copy paper. Title One schools can get several million a year. We turned Affiliated Charter to help keep the teachers we have and still have a high average class size. My classes have the highest test scores for a non-magnet school in the district. They deserve to have the things that will help them to learn and be creative.

My Project

My students need 2 packs of colored pencils and 1 case of construction paper to help them to create projects that will help them to appreciate the multicultural history of our world. Our students will be able to learn the art and crafts of history. We shall create posters such as wanted posters and commemorative plaques of historical figures, and posters about Japanese culture. Students will create maps of their neighborhoods and Blue Willow Plates. We can create folded flipbooks of the Renaissance. These projects will help them to learn about, organize and summarize information about the cultures and time periods that we will study.

You will be helping students to learn to appreciate history and cultures in history.

These materials will help students to create their projects and show their parents what they have done this year. They will have hands-on learning to help them improve their learning and skills.
