Ms. Jack from Cleveland OH is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need to access tablets for their writing projects, to create technology projects, and to learn to effectively use the internet to help them with their research. They need 15 DigiLand tablets.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are active and bright 7th and 8th graders who love to learn, but often come from disadvantaged backgrounds. We are learning to use technology to help us with research, writing, and building projects. These tablets will help my students gain valuable knowledge about research.
My students are 7th grade and 8th grade inner city students.
We have 100% free lunches in our school, and a donation of this kind would have an incredible impact on our studies! The kids I teach are funny, curious, and sensitive. Having access to these tablets would enable them to learn the benefits of technology and prepare them for their future.
First, we will be using the tablets to help them write performance based assessments like, persuasive, narrative, and expository essays. Second, we will be using the tablets to work on research projects, teaching students how to navigate the world wide web, and what is and is not an appropriate source. Finally, we will be using the tablets to create presentations for the end of the school year to share with the class about their final novels.
My students often hear that things are too expensive.
They hear that the schools are underfunded. They hear that things are "tight". If we were granted these tablets, my students would get to hear something new and exciting, YES! Yes, we can get the tablets out to work! Yes, we can write our papers on the tablets. Yes, we do have tablets for the research project. I want my students to hear the word "yes" for a change!
