My Students

Do you remember your classroom carpet from elementary school? This special place is where a lot of our learning takes place and it's much more welcoming than a cold, tile floor.

My first grade students are the most imaginative and creative little human beings I've ever met!

We have a rural school outside of town. We have a variety of students from a variety of backgrounds. Our school pride and community is strong and something we thrive on.

My Project

The classroom carpet is a common meeting place for students and the teacher. Concepts are introduced and practiced. Stories are heard. Thinking takes place. We can gather around something new and explore it together. It's that one special place where everyone feels welcome and everyone knows that something new and exciting is about to take place! The carpet is a home inside a classroom, fostering learning and creativity.

The students in my classroom will have the opportunity to have a place where they can all comfortably come together for our special time during the day.

Community is so critical in developing confident, capable learners. By having a classroom carpet, the students will have a chance to get out of their chairs and come together to learn up close and personal!
