My students need a small oven for cooking lessons to practice learned skills, meeting IEP goals and state standards.

My Students

Everyone loves to eat! We are trying to help students apply math skills into life skills by incorporating cooking into our newly created elementary special education classroom.

My students, grades 2-5, are in a newly created classroom applying functional academics into life, vocational and domestic skills.

They love to cook! They show excitement and enthusiasm during the lessons, but it is difficult trying to bake without a proper oven.

My Project

With the addition of the oven into our "kitchen" classroom, the students will be able to visualize and practice basic domestic skills easier. Menu selection and shopping for ingredients will be easier knowing that students will be able to bake correctly and safely. The food will cook faster, which will reduce wait time, keep the students on task and prevent possible behaviors.

This donation will provide the special education students an early opportunity to learn basic life and domestic skills.

They will have many opportunities to practice beginning cooking lessons. They will be more prepared when they move to middle and high school and they will be able to generalize learned skills from school to home.
