Normal wear and tear has left us hungry for more! Help make us full with well needed cooking supplies. With an ever growing population of students into my classroom, we could really use your help.
I teach students with severe learning disabilities.
They are 9th graders through age 21! Each day they cook themselves (with assistance) a snack, one larger meal a week, and we make cakes, cupcakes, or cookies for the students birthdays. They also learn how to wash clothes, basic reading, writing, and math skills and how to manage a checkbook.
My Project
Due to normal wear and tear, and a few accidental breaks, we need to ask you to help us restock our kitchen. The school district supplies us with food but, due to lack of funding, they can no longer supply us with kitchen basics and the last time we got supplies was five years ago. With these supplies, we hope to continue being able to cook within the classroom. Since my students are low functioning the goal of our classroom is to teach them independent living skills, in hopes that they will one day be able to live on their own.
These needs are so important to my students because my hope is that one day they will be able to live on their own with minimal assistance.
Could you image your life if you did not know how to cook and had a very low income?
