My Students

We come from a very rural community. Our students do not have the resources to stay connected with the world.

I teach Speech and Theater in Kaplan, Louisiana.

Our school, KHS, is located in rural Vermilion Parish which is about forty minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. Because of our rural community, I feel our students are disconnected from world, community, and school news.

My Project

I would love a television and wall mount to help student become better connected. My Speech III and IV classes have in the past created newscasts for our student body. Very few people were able to see these because of the cost of posting these videos on our school website. I have had to discontinue our newscast, even though it is part of our curriculum. The television would also be used for any special events such as inaugurations or other important world news that we would like to stream to our students.

These products can help our students tremendously.

We may have the next Barbra Walters or Dan Rather in our student body, but may never know! With your help, we can expose our students to the world!
