My Students

Days in my classroom, which happens to be a computer lab, are full of projects and collaboration.

Students are tech savvy about games and smart devices, however, some of them do not know how to use the computer as a tool or learning device.

This class is designed to help them see how they can use the computer to learn and present that learning to others.

My Project

Students will be creating and presenting projects throughout the semester. Students will be encouraged to begin a digital portfolio. I would like to have the ability to print one or two of each students' favorite projects. I have colored paper and other materials to mount the projects on, so it can hang on the wall more permanently than posting something on the frig at home. I need a color printer and ink for my students to print their creations. As they work on projects, I will encourage them to create things that will be "wall worthy", things they would want to put up somewhere for the world to see, to create something they are proud of. The projects won't just be something that will sit in a file somewhere, but something that will be for all to see. Choosing their favorites to print helps them to self reflect on what they have done and what was done for the learning or the result. Creating wall worthy projects will motivate them to learn and create quality projects.

Being able to print their projects in color will help motivate them to create something they can be proud of, something they can share or publish.

They won't be working to only complete the task or get the grade, but will be creating and learning because they can!
