Communication Tablets for Students with Autism

My students need two tablet notebooks, cases to protect them, screen covers, a pack of recordable CDs, a wireless keyboard and mouse for the Galaxy tablet, and batteries.

My Students

Help my students express themselves through technology! Some students in my class for students with severe intellectual disabilities cannot speak, and have to use gestures, eye gazes, and picture cards to communicate wants and needs.

My students with disabilities attend a high school in Coastal Georgia.

These students struggle to communicate their needs, and through the use of a Samsung Galaxy Tablet Computer, they can communicate to the world around them. Communication software can be loaded onto these tablet notebooks to allow for the students to make choices shown on the screen, and eventually navigate to create sentences.

My Project

My five students will share the two tablets that I have requested. I am also asking for cases to protect the tablets, and screen shields to protect the screens. Additionally, I am asking for a wireless keyboard and mouse, plus the batteries for the mouse. Currently, my students are communicating through picture cards. They will be so excited and so much more motivated to be able to express themselves through this tablet computer!

Having these tablet computers will have a huge impact on my students!

They love using computers, and they will be so much more motivated to communicate by using this computer and software.
