My K-5 regular ed and special ed students very much enjoy playing our World Music drums. My ever-growing students become uncomfortable standing while bending over to play the drums. This is especially true with my 5th-grade students. I want my students to be comfortable being able to sit to play!
My students are very deserving, hard-working, music-loving kids who enjoy learning about the various instruments we have in class.
They love to drum and learn about world cultures, sing songs and practice accompanying rhythms to go along. I teach approximately 1,000 Kindergarten through 5th-grade students, including AU1 and AU2 at a wonderful school. We have fun learning about music! I teach 150 students every day who would greatly benefit from being able to sit comfortably while playing our World Music drums.
My Project
These 15 stools will be placed by our set of 15 World Music Drumming tubanos. These tubano drums sit on the floor. The correct way to play these drums is by sitting in a chair or on a stool, like the ones we're hoping to receive. For several years now, my students have been standing to play these drums. They would be so grateful to be able to sit on these colorful, comfortable stools. Having the stools to sit on would enable my students to focus on the beautiful music they're creating rather than how uncomfortable their backs may be. We learn rhythms and drumming techniques from the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, and America. It's such a fun way to learn music. Let's make the music feel as comfortable as it sounds!
Donations to this project would allow students (especially my older ones) to sit comfortably while playing our World Music drums.
It will tremendously help my students to be seated in a better position for correct and comfortable posture. They will be happier and more inspired to play for longer periods of time during class. Help them grab a seat and step on up to the fun.
