My Students

Remember the thrill of a new box of crayons and a brand new journal? So many possibilities to color your world!

My first grade class is a diverse group with many learning needs and challenges.

Many of our students cannot afford basic school supplies. My first graders are enthusiastic learners. They are excited about reading, writing, and math. They enjoy making new friends and learning about the world around them.

My Project

In my classroom we use crayons in all content areas. We draw pictures to explore background knowledge in reading. We color different number combinations to explain addition and subtraction. We draw pictures to show what we have learned in science and social studies. We draw pictures to accompany our writing. We use the composition books as math journals. It is amazing to look back to see see how much we have learned!

First graders love new crayons and new journals!
