College Bound Students Need New Reading Opportunities
My students need a variety of novels including Wonder, Out of My Mind, and Ready Player One to refresh our classroom lending library and get them excited about reading.
Pushing lower level readers is a challenge that our school faces everyday. The fact of the matter is that with a little extra help, most of our students who are low level readers are college bound; they just need to work a little harder and be actively engaged.
There are some major impediments to getting the books that our students need to build their reading stamina and fluency.
Our high school's media center has not had funding for the past five years. The titles available to the students are becoming woefully out of date. My own classroom's lending library is full of vibrant reading materials that excite and engage, but there are only so many books to go around.
My Project
I would like to supplement my classroom's lending library for the benefit of my low-level readers. By having exciting new books readily available, my students will have the opportunity to increase their reading levels through the amount of time they spend reading and the types of books they are able to read. I am requesting a variety of novels to include Wonder, Out of My Mind, and Ready Player One.
Your help will ensure that these kids are exposed to many different kinds of literature.
It will enrich their lives and prepare them for the world of higher education. Thank you so much for considering my classroom.
