My students need 27 books about manners, emotions and feelings, 24 book bins, and supplies, such as hooks, duster, and a vacuum, to keep our room and library clean and organized.
"Manners easily and rapidly mature into morals." - Horace Mann, advocate of universal public education.
Most of my students are part of immigrant families - new to the country, language, and customs.
However, we all strive to teach our children to be responsible, caring individuals. Children are incredibly observant and impressionable; as a teacher, I strive to be a role model.
At the same time, we all love books! We love sitting together on the carpet where we read, laugh, and share our thoughts.
My Project
My students need 26 books about manners, emotions and feelings, and supplies, such as hooks, duster, and a vacuum, to keep our room and library clean and organized. Just like everyone, we all have moments where we react poorly to situations and do not know how to approach a scenario. At 6 and 7, my students are still building the foundation of their manners and morals. These books about manners and emotions will remind us of the right thing to do and appropriate ways of reacting to circumstances that we often find ourselves in.
The books and supplies will clean up our manners and our library and room!
With books targeting children's social skills, repeated exposure, and more importantly, consistent modeling, my students will learn that while manners cost nothing, they mean everything.
New book bins will keep our library well-organized and ready to be explored by eager minds! A clean room and rug will help us feel taken care of and ready to learn in a tidy environment!
