This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Reading and writing, like everything else, improve with practice. And, of course, if there are no young readers and writers, there will shortly be no older ones." ~ Margaret Atwood,
My first graders come from a Title I school and most qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
They are apart of one of the largest urban school districts in our country, and most have limited resources at home. But my each one is full of potential that is waiting to be unlocked.
My Project
Receiving this donation will help to encourage more of my students to read independently by providing them with books that are appropriate for their particular reading level which will allow them to be become more confident and engaged while reading.
Creating a leveled library will hopefully help to foster a lifelong love of learning in each one of my students' lives, by giving them the opportunity to independently interact with books.
