My students need high quality novels such as, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Giver and Babymouse to really captivate them and develop within them a genuine love of reading. These are books I know they will love!
We call ourselves "Team 210," as we consider ourselves a community (or a team) that works and learns together...and our classroom number is 210 :). Each and every day we read as we believe it's beyond important.
My students are an incredible group of diverse nine and ten-year olds who are constantly working on improving their skills and expanding their schema about the world around them.
Each day we engage in rich literacy work, including shared reading, whole class read alouds using high quality mentor texts, small group guided reading, partner and independent reading. We also enjoy thinking critically in Math, and developing a greater sense of the world as we discuss societal issues such as fair trade chocolate and gender inclusion.

These novels, such as, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Giver and Babymouse to really captivate them and develop within them a genuine love of reading. will spark a deep love of reading within my students, something that some of them are still struggling to find. They will have the opportunity to read the classroom library books during independent reading.
The particular books I've selected are ones that my students don't have access to, and yet are very much interested in. I've chosen books that would appeal to the range of learners in my class.
We will also use the books on a rotation schedule to be sent home, and later returned, so students will have access to quality literature at home as well.
My hope is that these cherished books will enable my students to come to truly love reading on their own.
With these books, our classroom will include a vibrant classroom library from which students may select books to read for pure enjoyment.
