My Students

Not all kids have the chance to use computers. It breaks my heart to hear students tell me that they can't do an assignment because they don't have a computer at home. We have a computer lab at my school, but getting time there is hard because it is in such demand.

My students come from an urban area, and have working parents, many of whom struggle to make ends meet and spend time with their children.

I have students that stay after school looking for academic time because the time that they have after school is otherwise wasted. Students who are hungry to learn need to have the opportunity to feed their brains.

My Project

These computers and paper will be used in my classroom so that students are able to work on and create digital projects when they would otherwise not have a chance. When students create a project of their own there is so much more pride involved. I have had students who are not able to complete a project that they have wanted to do only because they didn't have the time to access a computer before a deadline.

More and more teachers know that project based learning is the most important way for students to learn.

They are able to create and problem solve in a way that is so much more meaningful than the repetitive activities that are part of traditional teaching practices.
