Schools are notorious for spreading colds. In order for my students to succeed academically, they need to be healthy. This takes a lot more than hand sanitizer, but it helps!
My students are a brilliant and spirited group of roughly 120 11th and 12th graders at a small, urban public school in California.
My school has a deep commitment to get first generation youth of color into college and we work hard to reach this goal! My students are roughly 98% children of color, from mostly Latino, African-American and Pacific Islander backgrounds. Approximately 85% of my students receive free or reduced rate lunch.
My Project
I am asking for your support in providing my classroom with Kleenex, hand sanitizer, water cups, pens, and white board cleaning supplies. These are not fancy requests, these are the basics! I believe in the powerful work we do at my school, but unfortunately we do not have the funding to make it all happen. Teachers are responsible for equipping our classrooms with many of the materials students need to be well cared for and successful.
My students deserve to walk into a classroom that is clean and equipped.
I can keep them in class and focused when I have cups for water and tissues. These small things make a huge difference in keeping my students healthy, happy, and focused on what matters most-learning! You can help make that possible!
