Mr. Padgett from East Point GA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 3 Chromebooks to help with 21st Century learning including collaboration, being technologically advanced, as well as help with enrichment and remediation!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
A quote my students hear me say a lot is "Dig Deeper!" They know that when they enter our classroom, it is a place where they are going to think critically and dig deep into the content they must learn. Also they are going to dig deep into themselves to become a better learner & person.
My students are critical thinkers when given the proper support to develop this skill & talent.
They are my children who have a spark about something & can explore their interest in class. They want to collaborate with others & learn more about the world around them. My school is located in an urban area of metropolitan Atlanta. Most students are low income & qualify for free and reduced lunch. Many of them do not have all of the background knowledge/experiences as many students their age should or do. Transiency rates are somewhat high. They also don't have all the tech tools needed. While that information listed above may seem challenging, these students are able to learn! I want to provide them with experiences & opportunities that are meaningful so they can be taken to the next level to meet standards and go beyond! They need to go beyond connecting with students in the classroom & connect with others outside the walls of the school! They are eager, motivated, & curious!
With the 3 Chromebooks, students will have a chance to utilize tech tools that are not available in the school. They will have a chance to work on assignments that allow for collaboration with peers in their classroom as well as outside their classroom. Students will have the chance to work on projects in which they create and apply the knowledge they have acquired. Using the Chromebooks will provide students with the opportunity for enrichment as well as remediation to help master standards and dig deeper into their interests in the world. From Google Docs/Drive, Educreations, virtual field trips, digital stories, Discovery Education, and other technology apps and resources, students will be able to have a chance to acquire more knowledge in a blended learning model!
By donating to this project, it will allow students to become more technologically prepared for the real world.
They will acquire necessary skills including typing, collaborating, and using software and apps that enhance their learning. They will be able to acquire more background knowledge to help master skills needed to meet and exceed standards they must learn. Ultimately, students will be going from good to great by supporting this project!
