We use web based computer programs for our math, reading, science, testing, and much more. We need to add five more computers to our classroom so we can rotate more students through the computer programs on a daily basis.
I teach 21 wonderful first graders in a small school in rural Northern California.
I have very eager students who love to learn. My students love to play games, do art and science projects, and write stories. Living in the state of California, my students have been dealt the short end of the stick. Funding for classrooms in California has been dramatically cut and it has filtered down to the students by limiting purchases for the classroom to basic supplies.
My Project
I am requesting five Samsung Chromebooks. The Chromebooks will be used so my students can access all of the web based programs we use like Study Island, Accelerated Reader, and Brain Pop. These programs allow us to practice reading, math, and science skills. Adding five more computers to our classroom will allow us to become more independent from our computer lab. Currently our computer lab is on the other side of school and is not functioning so we have to do all of our computer work in the classroom. If we can get five more computers for the classroom, we will be able to rotate more students onto the computers each day so they attend to their tasks like taking reading tests and using skills based website.
By helping us add five more computers to our classroom, you'll be giving my students access to all of the wonderful programs we use like Accelerated Reader and Study Island, to mention a couple.
They will become more proficient in computer skills which are the skills essential for the future.
