My students are eager to have the tools to use to enhance their learning. We are making our curriculum and students become more rigorous and student driven in their work.
Everyday we use our Promethean board to work on our daily objectives.
We are always eager to do and learn new things in the classroom. They want to share their work and become better students.
We have a high percentage of Hispanic students coming to us knowing little or no English. We are a small school with limited resources and a majority of our donations comes from our Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.). We are a small community school. We have a little over 300 students in grades prekindergarten to 5th. We have overcome two hurricanes and floods. We have recently constructed a flood protection system/wall because of those natural disasters. Our school has also been recognized for being the highest elementary school in test scores in our parish. We have been upgrading our wireless capabilities in our school and in the process I have lost 3 computers. I would like to start replacing my computers will lap tops for the portability and convenience.
My Project
My students will use the Ipads and laptops for cooperative groups in all subjects. Our class also has a Promethean board and the Ipads can be used at the same time. So each group can show their work and it can be shown instantly on the board. Students can proofread the work by helping and guiding each other for a student driven curriculum.
I recently received an Ipad and hope to one day have a class set. I have used this tool to enhance and carry out my daily lessons and for review. This year we have fully implemented our new standards for learning and we are striving to be more rigorous in our lessons and presentations. Our school now has updated wireless capabilities and using these portable tools are a dream! My kids will not have to leave their desk and will be able to work in small groups with the Ipads and lap top. We want our students to be the best they can be and these tools will help them get there.
My students will have various wireless tools to use through out the classroom and school.
They will be able to create their own work and become independent learners in the process. We are hopeful we will be able to receive this help!
