My Students

Help our students read their books independently, please!

I teach technology in a low income school where reading levels are something with which students struggle.

Many students come into their first year and do not know all their letters and numbers. The teachers work very hard to have all their students reach their grade level in reading.

My Project

Recently our school received some books with CDs for independent, follow-along reading. Our problem is that the classrooms do not have working CD players. These books and CDs would be wonderful if our students could listen to the CD and follow along in the book while the teacher reads along with another small group. Each classroom has working headphones as well,they just do not have something in which to plug them.

Donating these CD players would make many young people happy.

When the students saw the books, they wanted to follow along with the Cds right away. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible. These CD players can make that possible. I can't wait to take pictures of students using these CD players and sharing them with our donors.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
