My Students

Can you imagine children of today having limited access to work and learning with a computer? Well, that is what is going on in my classroom. I have 1 computer for 21 students. I am hoping to get a computer so my technologically savvy students can use it daily to enhance their learning.

My students attend a K-12 school.

It is not a neighborhood school, so they get up very early and travel a great distance to get here. They love the small family atmosphere that our school has to offer. They are eager to learn and they try their best. Most of my students I work with come from a low income family. Our English speaking students as well as our English language learners struggle with language and vocabulary development. Having access to a computer would help them receive additional personalized instruction, as well as receive review, practice and challenge lessons in various curricular areas.

My Project

Having another computer in my room would be a dream come true. Our district math, language arts and progress monitoring programs have access where I would be able to design personalized lessons for the students. This would allow me to look at each student's progress and determine if that student needed additional instruction, more practice, or if he/she was ready to move onto a more challenging lesson in language arts and/or math. I would be able to assign these lessons for each student in intervention and group time. They would be able to use a password then to get their personalized lessons. Imagine being able to finally meet the needs of each student I work with no matter what level they are at. Not only would I be more effective as an instructor, but this instruction would be paperless. It would save our school money, not wear down the copy machine, but most importantly, I would have access to each student's progress.

The students at my school do have limited opportunity to work with a computer in their classrooms.

I feel that I need to be an advocate and plead to get the proper technology into my classroom. The students in my class would definitely benefit from its use. You donation will change learning for a new generation. My students and I would be so grateful for your support by donating toward this project.
