My Students

Math is the only place where truth and beauty mean the same thing. -Danica McKellar In my classroom, math is the most powerful subject my students learn (mainly because it is a math classroom). It takes them on adventures more daring than books can offer.

I have the honor of sharing 48 wonderful students in our Raleigh, NC school.

The children come to me for math and are the most eager learners I have had to date. They love trying and inventing new strategies for different math concepts and working with each other to get their problems solved.

My Project

These calculators will help my mathematicians with their everyday calculations and projects. They have learned how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using their paper and pencil strategies, but sometimes, they need a break from the constant writing. Also, sometimes, they need to complete math projects in a small amount of time, so these calculators will help keep them speedy and will help give them the correct answers.

The children in our school are allowed to use calculators on their End of Grade tests, but often don't use them because they have never used a calculator.

This would give me the chance to teach them how to use them not only for their tests, but for life.
