Bully Book Boxes for Us All!

My students need 5 copies of the book "Bullying in Schools" and several other books on bullying. They also need book bins, 2 beanbag chairs, and library labels.

My Students

Do you remember being bullied? Do you remember how you handled the situation? Many children today do not know how to handle an uncomfortable situation like bullying.

I have 20 wonderful students who live in a low income area.

They love to learn and are interested in everything. They belong to a K-3 school with over 700 students. Our school does as much as it can for its students but due to budget restraints our classrooms may not have some of the items we would like for our students to be exposed to.

My Project

I am requesting several different types of books on bullying. I am requesting the book "Bullying in Schools" along with other age appropriate books that will be interesting to a seven or eight year old. I am also requesting a class set of book boxes and a storage cart to hold the boxes. My hope is to have several different books in each child's personal book box where they will have a choice in their reading. I am also requesting two bean bag chairs which will allow my students the comfort they deserve while reading. Bullying is such a major problem in our schools today and I feel that no matter how much I read to them, they will not truly understand unless they choose on their own to learn. I want them to be able to make that choice to learn about bullying and to find a comfortable place in the classroom so they are able to truly comprehend what the book is teaching them.

This project is so very important to me because bullying is a major problem and as I said, students will not truly understand the problem unless they choose to understand the problem.

I want my students to have the choice to read an age appropriate book on bullying in a safe comfortable surrounding.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
