This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My ideal day in the classroom would look like this...students enjoying and comprehending reading text no matter what genre it is.

My campus is in the southern sector of our city.

We have approximately 480 students. Our demographics are 76% African American, 22% Hispanic and 1% other. Our students come from various backgrounds, but the majority of our students live in single parent homes.

My Project

The resources that we have ask for will assist students in the areas of vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. In order to ensure that students are reading on level material, we will strengthen their vocabulary and the oral fluency, while ensuring that students are able to comprehend what they're reading.

My goal is to build my student's reading capacity.

With the donations, my students will have opportunities to practice the reading craft. The more practice we offer, the better readers we'll have!
