Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Good teaching is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths theater." ~Gail Goldwin
My students learn best with real-life, as well as hands-on experiences.
My students are in a Special Education Life Skills Unit.
This is considered the most restricted environment. We are avid participants in Special Olympics and Community Based Instruction. My students range in grades from first through the fifth grade.
My Project
I have many students with their own specific abilities and activities are so challenging to meet the needs of all my students. With the pretend workbench and tool-kit, I can have a "preferred activity" center for students that need to work alone while I provide direct instruction in small groups. The food sorting activities will also be a constructive activity that my students can explore without needing direct instruction.
This project will improve my classroom by allowing me to provide direct instruction to students while the other students can be involved in constructive activities that serve a purpose.
