I teach a lively group of second grade students in the City of Brotherly Love.
The majority of my students are from low-income families and need all the love, support, and learning experiences they can get. The children in my room are of varying learning levels, but work together well and love learning!
My Project
Our district has now incorporated STEM into our curriculum. As teachers, we are responsible for getting materials to teach our students. These wonderful new materials will help my students work interdisciplinary to become better Scientists, Engineers and Mathematicians through Technology. The hands on learning, using these materials and applying them, will increase the enjoyment of learning and my own teaching within the classroom.
The impact to my second graders will be immeasurable because they will be completely engaged in the learning process.
They will be able to make connections using real life materials to enhance the learning process. My students will expand their prior knowledge. Independence and deeper knowledge will be gained by all.
