This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are on a mission to become great readers and writers. However, they are attempting to do so without the benefits of technology afforded to many of their peers.

My students are fighters.

They attend a low-income, high-mobility school where their opportunities are often limited, but they continue to work relentlessly to succeed. Most of my students are Latino and speak English as their second language. Although they are just as intelligent as their English-speaking peers, they need extra support in order to express their thoughts.

My Project

Because my students are primarily English language learners, they sometimes struggle with oral and written directions. However, they respond exceptionally well when they are able to watch someone else and that is why this document camera will be perfect. With it, my students will be able to watch me revise and edit papers, mark texts, and take notes. Watching the writing process instead of simply seeing the finished product will greatly enhance their ability to achieve similar results.

Literacy is the most critical skill for students to have in today's society.

At this juncture, my students are trying to develop their skills into the ability to think critically. This technology will greatly aid them in that attempt.
