We are a small school with a small budget but big ambitions. I have taught my students for the past two years.
I traveled with them from 7th to 8th grade. It's been great getting to know them that much better. They all are very unique individuals and they celebrate each other's differences, which is refreshing to say the least. They all love technology and want to use it more but sadly it isn't readily available at our school. We have 600+ students but only a little over 100 iPads/computers available for everyday use. This makes it very difficult to consistently integrate technology into the classroom. Our administration and teachers work very hard to better our school but we can only do so much with what we have available. Students can get a digital driver's license to bring their own technology but not every student has a laptop or tablet that they can bring to school.
My Project
If we are able to secure these Chromebooks, I'll be able to readily provide my students with a learning experience they have yet to really experience. My students will be able to take part in a self-paced classroom environment. Instead of teaching to the middle I will be able to reach all students at differing levels to better help them learn and excel. Students will be able to take part in more than just note-taking. They will be able to actually research topics on their own with me guiding them to their destination. Using programs like Edmodo and Google Classroom, students will be able to interface with each other and collaborate with one another on projects more easily than before. None of this is possible though without the availability of classroom technology.

We are in an area where many of our students haven't seen much outside of our homes. This will help them see that there is a much larger world open to them thanks to technology. Students that don't have the means to have technology can have that opportunity now. This will better prepare them for life outside of school because technology is not only the future but the now.
