So many times I have young male readers tell me that they can not find anything to read in the library. They say it is just the same old thing.
My school is located in a rural area and the school library is the one place that they have access to free books.
There are approximately 500 students in the school. Many of my students live in areas that are not always close to a public library or due to parent's work schedules. I am a new librarian and want to add books that are geared towards my male readers. They enjoy a variety of reading materials like graphic novels and books related to hunting.
My Project
The resources would give more options for many of my male students that are often not able to find a book that they are interested in. They will now have a reason to come to the library and find a book that they can relate to. The potential for having students read about what they are interested in is HUGE! The more they read not only do they become better readers but they become learners that will always value reading!
This donation will give my students more options and more reasons to come to the library.
They will now have books that will be engaging and relatable. Reading is not just saying words. It gives them experiences, knowledge, and a reason to learn.
