My students need Hot Dots Quiz cards, Learning Wrap-Ups, and a storage easel to improve efficiency in completing assignments and boost their math and vocabulary skills.
Many of my students do not have access to a computer or the Internet at home, and some are lacking the variety of books they need. I want to provide my students with the most effective resources for them to become successful.
My school is located in a small close knit town in a rural county.
The school is full of caring teachers and staff who strive to give our student body the best educational opportunity possible. I teach a class of 17 third graders from diverse backgrounds. There are 9 boys and 8 girls, some who are EC or ELL.
My Project
Currently my students are having to lie in the floor to use chart paper during group work. The storage cart/easel will allow them to use chart paper easily, and students can use the easel to practice math problems. I can also use the easel to display charts, large books, and other materials to the class. The colored storage tubs will also allow for differentiated materials to be separated by group level so students can easily pull their tub for stations.
My students were introduced to the exciting world of Hot Dots thanks to previous donations on Donor's Choose. They absolutely love them and would be beaming with joy to know that we will be getting more added to our classroom. Hot Dots are used in daily reading and math stations, and during free time if a student completes an assignment early. The quiz cards will increase their fluency in vocabulary, multiplication, and fractions.
The Learning Wrap-Ups will be used by students in a small group station for multiplication practice.
Providing these materials will first and foremost teach my students that there are people out there, people they do not even know, who care about their success.
Secondly, these materials will prepare my students for end of grade reading and math exams. Finally, students will have engaging stations that will sharpen their skills and boost their confidence.
