My Students

Our kids love writing and writing. I bind several journals for the students throughout the year and my current binding machine is over 10 years old. This past year it has lost several screws and even some mysterious plastic parts. Please help us replace our binding machine so we can keep on writing!

My students are amazing.

They love learning and love school and I want to continue to encourage them. My class is composed of 14 boys and 9 girls. Most of them live below the poverty level but this hasn't discouraged them from learning and loving school. They continue to make me laugh and astonish me with what they can and have accomplished this school year.

My Project

We make several journals, thank you books and themed books written by the students throughout the year to give out to special family and community members. (Mom, dad, docents, firefighters, police officers, etc ) The kids also have their own writing journals and a writer's notebook where they write an entry on a daily basis. Over the course of one year, we bind hundreds of books and journals for our students.

In kindergarten, students are just learning how to write sentences and becoming aware of how powerful print is.

Having their own journals and tools for writing will propel them to be authors of their own books, letters and other published materials.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
