Books to Encourage Our Love of Reading

My Students
Do you remember what it was like to go the library and pick out books that interested you or how it felt to read a book by yourself for the first time? Unfortunately, my students are limited by the book choices in our class. With the very few books we have, many of them are in poor condition.
My students are Kindergarteners who attend a high poverty school in a school system that continues to make drastic budget cuts. Many of my students don't have easy access to books outside of the classroom. I would love for them to be able to come to class each day and find a few books that not only interest them, but they can also read at their level. My students are excited to learn despite the limited resources we have.
My Project
Although my students are excited to learn already, having appropriate resources on hand would elevate that excitement and drive to the next level. Reading is the key that unlocks so many facets of learning. Having a classroom library with multiple interesting books on each student's reading level would foster a love of reading.
Please help add new books to our classroom. Because reading is found in so many disciplines, it is important to strengthen this skill as early as possible. Getting Kindergarteners hooked on reading will greatly impact the rest of their school careers.
