Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you love buying books? Do you remember making trips to the local library as a kid? Many of my students do not have access to books at home or the ability to go to the local library. Our classroom library is the pathway to igniting their love for literacy and learning. Books help inspire them.
I have over 40, 5th grade students.
My students are eager to learn but many are battling the hardships that life has sent their way. They are bright individuals who desire the opportunities to succeed just like any other 5th grade student. I am proud of their perseverance and willingness to be challenged and overcome life's obstacles and rise above the odds.
My Project
A classroom library should be an exciting place for a student. If the library is filled with books that do not spark student interest then the library will lose its magic and purpose.
The books that I have added to this project are books that students WANT to read. Some are nonfiction, some are historical fictions, others are graphic novels(which are desired greatly from reluctant readers at the moment), and other titles that students have expressed interest in reading.
These books will be used to encourage students to read and help them find books that are relevant and meaningful to them.
I want my students to have everything that their hearts desire.
I want them to know that they are loved, valued, and appreciated. It is my dream to be able to provide for them when they need/desire things in the classroom and beyond so when they asked for more books...I just KNEW I had to make this dream a reality for them.
