Ms. White from Jennings MO is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need books at Levels A, B, and C to help them get off to a great start on their reading adventure.

"I spent three days a week for 10 years educating myself in the public library, and it's better than college. People should educate themselves - you can get a complete education for no money." Ray Bradbury. I want my children to be able to educate themselves through a love of reading.
My students are energetic children with a thirst for knowledge.
I love being able to teach kindergarten and see that love for books. At independent reading time the kids scoop up their favorite books (currently Pete the Cat books) and lounge about the room exclaiming over different parts. It is amazing to see them get swept away by books. Sometimes my students come to school with many roadblocks in front of them. The school provides free lunch to many, as well as uniforms, coats, shoes, and other essentials. Books can take them away and allow them to educate themselves in the future regardless of where they go in life. I believe that once you ignite that passion for reading it never really leaves a person.
I want to ignite the passion for reading in my students. Before they can walk they have to crawl. These guided reading books provide a great opportunity to learn beginning reading skills. In small groups, I will work with children to learn how letters connect to sounds, predicting, how to decode words, making connections to real life situations, and many other reading skills. They will leave the table confident in themselves and proudly carry their new books to their cubbies so that they can later share the books with friends and practice reading.
My students will become EMPOWERED for the rest of their lives with these books.
Once they know how to read the world is open to them and they can become anything they want to be. Please help my students achieve their dreams.
