This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever felt the feeling that you love and enjoy reading non-fiction as well as fiction and chapter books, however you could never find any interesting ones in your classroom to read? My students love to read but our classroom does not have a great deal of modern interesting new books.
My students are truly amazing.
They come from a very low income housing project. They are always excited to come to school and learn. Many of them come to us from broken homes. Many have a parent that is incarcerated currently. My students come to me from foster homes as well as homeless shelters. The majority of my students are being raised by a single parent and in many instances it is a grandparent that is raising them. In spite of all this, the students are always excited and eager to learn. 98% of the students here eat the free lunch and breakfast. Our students are hard working and eager to always do their best. They are supportive of their peers and staff. They are wonderful, kind children who simply want to have a pleasant day at school each day. They simple want to be treated with dignity and to enjoy their teachers and friends as they learn new and exciting things. My students love to learn and are very excited about their future and strive for success always.
My Project
My students would truly enjoy having interesting non-fiction as well as fiction books to read. Their desks and chairs are uncomfortable and they find it difficult to stay seated in them for too long. They shift and fidget and lose their concentration often. They become very disinterested in the genera of books available in the classroom. I believe that if they had the sort of books they enjoy they would be a great deal more comfortable in their seats. They would sit and learn and enjoy the reading block. Books are the key to my students success and I have made it my mission as their teacher to help them build home libraries and class libraries. I want them to always have access to books that appeal to them. They love humor. My students are desperately in need of your support. They need interesting books. I hope someone will help these wonderful students. It certainly takes a village to raise a child, and all of our supporters at donorschoose.org are an important part of our community.
These smart and excited students are eager and interested in learning.
They are at the age where they love true stories as well as humor. They love non-fiction and series books. I want them to have great books in September to begin the school year on the right foot. I want to help them jump start their reading skills and improve them rapidly. It pays off to be very proactive in the lives of these students. With our support the sky becomes the limit for them in terms of what they can achieve.
