School should be a place for all learners to grow and flourish.
Everyone should feel safe and welcome. I teach in a rural county of East Tennessee. The majority of our students live at or near the poverty level. Although our school is showing its age, the students that attend are still the "heartbeat" of our school. Students come to school daily eager to learn something new and form new friendships.
My Project
I am requesting ten Boogie Board Writing Tablets. The Boogie Board tablet's pressure-sensitive LCD writing surface creates lines of different thickness based on how hard you push - just like paper and pen! They are perfect for practicing handwriting, math, and drawing pictures. Boogie Boards erase with the touch of a button and a friendly flash from the liquid crystal display - COOL!
I plan to use the Boogie Boards in various ways in the classroom including small group work, pair and share, assessment, and art.
Can you imagine having to write your spelling words on a plain piece of paper versus on a LCD tablet? Which would you prefer? I know that my students would be thrilled to have these in the classroom for everyday use! Can you help me get these into the hands of first graders?
