My students need sight word games, bingo flash cards, 30 word journals, a printer with additional ink, a hole punch, a variety of cut outs, number lines and a solar system poster.
My students love our workshop time. In this time they do some independent journal work and then they get to choose a learning game to use in small groups.
Our school is considered high poverty with a diverse student population.
My students are very bright and eager to learn and truly enjoy delving into their daily studies. I love to make learning fun for them and I incorporate many games into our day.
My Project
We will use the sight word games and flash cards for our workshop time. The students are learning to read and write many words in first grade and I like to use sight word games to make this a fun process. In addition we will use word journals to expand vocabulary and learn how to spell new words.
We will use the number lines for math lessons. Learning how to add and subtract is a key first grade skill. It will help the students to have their own number line on their desk to assist in their addition and subtraction problems. We also need a large clock to help the students learn how to tell time.
I am asking for a printer because I make many of my own worksheets that align with Common Core. We are learning multiple methods for problem solving and I do not yet have materials for all of the objectives. I can create my own with the use of a printer.
In addition, I am asking for black markers for our art lessons and a solar system poster for our science unit.
