This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a wonderful group of inquisitive, caring and enthusiastic fourth graders who recently discovered a love for books. This year, we would like to keep that momentum going and be able to provide them with grade level books in both languages (English and Spanish).
We are the fourth grade Dual Language Immersion classroom. We have a wonderful group of bilingual and bi-literate students who deserve ample opportunities to develop their reading and writing skills in both languages. Last year, this class developed a true love of reading and a hunger for new stories. As a class in a high poverty school, students need a wide range of grade-level books and options for reading that accurately reflect their own home cultures, interests and languages.
My Project
Students will enjoy a classroom library that reflects their interests, their love of reading and their two languages. We are excited to provide all of our students with many opportunities to foster their enjoyment of literature and to demonstrate their understanding of the stories they have read by creating book trailers to share with younger students in our school.
Students last year created book trailers about some of their most loved books. This year we hope to use this literature to continue producing book trailers that will further enrich the experiences of younger students and their desire to read.
