My students need an iPad mini and Otter box protective case.

My students are diagnosed with severe autism and are non-verbal. Each student has unique and challenging communication needs that must be addressed and taught in order to function in the classroom and in society.
There are 5 students in my class, 4 boys and 1 girl.
Each student is unique and requires hands-on activities as well as 1:1 assistance in order to communicate, learn and stay engaged. My students are very playful, energetic, and loving. My students do not know how to spontaneously initiate or verbally express their basic needs, desires, and what they learned. This causes many challenges because people have to try and figure out their needs, desires, and learning gains. When students' do not get their needs met instantly they get frustrated and act out in aggressive behaviors. My school is a title 1 public school. The biggest frustration is that there is a very limited amount of resources/materials that are appropriate for my students' needs and academic levels. The limited resources and materials that we have in the classroom have been created, borrowed, and self-purchased; in order to try and create a functional and enriching learning environment.
Currently my students communicate through the use of picture exchange and symbols but even with the abundance of pictures there still aren't enough pictures to fill all the vocabulary a child may want to use. With the use of an i Pad I can upload communication system applications that will allow students to communicate more freely beyond the use of pictures. There are also tons of applications that are specifically designed for students with autism and special needs to enhance learning. My students have trouble with fine motor skills and attending to worksheets. They also need highly motivating items to engage and stay on task. What's better than an i Pad to help meet all of these needs and more!

Providing them with an i Pad will give students' a voice so that they can communicate more effectively and fully function in society.
