My Students

I teach in a rural school district that depends on farming as a main source of income. Many of my students have moved around a lot and have very different levels and gaps in their education. Personalized learning has been a great asset and I am fortunate to have some technology in my room.

Like all of us, my students have different learning styles and preferences and I would like to have options other than desks and tables to accommodate students.

My Project

Not all students work best while seated and recent studies have shown that standing desks help improve focus and have health benefits as they reduce sedentary time. The standing desks can also be rearranged to form collaborative groupings for stations as students participate in a variety of Personalized Learning experiences.

Offering a variety of seating options helps students that don't always succeed in traditional classroom settings.

This includes sitting in the floor with a portable desk or using stools around a table. Whatever students choose, just having a choice helps engage all students and creates a more inclusive classroom environment.
