My Students

We have 13 sets of resonator bells to teach music classes with. This means 1/2 of the class gets to use the bells and then the other 1/2 of the class uses them. We do not get to perform as a whole class. To quote a student "it's not fun to sit and wait".

Our students are intelligent and eager to learn.

We are a high poverty school located in the Appalachian Mountains. There are a limited number of mining jobs in the county. We do not have a large economic base. Our parents cannot afford the "extra's". Our school is relatively new. We have a dedicated faculty and staff who try to provide for the instructional needs of our students on a limited budget.

My Project

My students will be able to learn how to play music using these instruments. They will learn about musical scales. We will learn about rhythms. We will learn about the beats of a musical piece. We will learn about meter. We will use these to learn about many other terms of music. These will help us to demonstrate our understanding of music.

This project will improve the students understanding of music and how it is made.

It can help them develop a lifelong appreciation of music. It could possibly start some students on a path to a career in the music field.
