This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our PE class has anywhere from 30 to 100 students ranging from grades 6 to 12. We start out with warm up activities to ensure that everyone is getting their heart rate up and ready for that days activity. After the warm up we play our games and then the students write a summary of the activities.
Our students are from the city of St.
Louis. We are a school with very little funding, and the funding that we do receive does not go the the PE department. Our students do not get much activity time outside of PE in their daily lives so we need to ensure that they are getting quality time while in our class. Our students are bright and eager to participate but we are severely limited with our current equipment situation. Currently we have students from eight different nations in our building so we try and provide a wide variety of activities for them to participate in.
My Project
The students will use the cones, Frisbee discs, and rhino skin balls to practice loco-motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and improve their fitness. We will be able to use this equipment for countless games and activities in the gym to ensure that they are getting everything that they need out of a quality PE program. We had students ask us if we could get some more cones so they could have smaller teams inside our games when we have the fields marked out, and we have had students request Frisbee discs so they can practice and then use them at home with friends.
This project will make a difference for our students because it will help improve their fitness levels and teach them how they can move their body to stay fit and active.
It will also make a difference by teaching skills that they can take home with them and use to stay fit with family and friends.
